I am New England girl who ended up settling in the South after spending college in the Midwest. I come from a large family of language teachers and growing up, EL topics where pretty common around the dining room table.
I have been teaching for 7 years, all in Title 1 schools in Nashville. In those 7 years, I've worked for 7 different principals (crazy, I know) although I've really only been at 3 schools. I taught self-contained classes until this year, including 4th grade, a 1/2 split, 1st and looped up to 2nd. This year, I'm an EL co-teacher at my school and I love it. My schedule is entirely dependent on kids needs and using data to target areas of improvement.
I decided to jump into blogging around the same time I started selling on TPT. While I kept up with selling the random things I made for my classes on TPT, it's taken me a lot longer to figure out what I wanted to say in a blog. Since diving back in the EL world full time, I knew that was something I could really get going on!
So where does the name Fairly ELementary come from?
-Although I'm certified to teach older, my heart is in elementary
-I like to keep the products I make as well as the ones I purchase simple to use (elementary as in basic)
-the L is capitalized to show off the EL emphasis of the blog.
